Trub gasped as the twisted profile of the blade came into view and took a few steps back in anxiety. "w-what are you doing with Scars Meadows?".
Asuir looked at her with a scornful look on his face. "It will serve as the tool of my power." With the ending of his sentence he threw his arm out straight, with a speed and force not seen in the young channeler before and grabbed the warrior by her throat. Under normal circumstances Trub would have broke his hold and pinned him within 15 seconds (as regularly seen during daily training exercises), but this time. Something was different. She couldn’t break the hold around her neck. No matter how much she struggled.
"Let her go you bastard!" shouted a Kalk as Several of the guild broke through the main doors to the hall. Asuir slowly turned his head to Kalk and the rest of the guild members, still holding Trub in his grip. "we have you outnumbered ! Now drop her and the blade or we will be forced to take drastic measures..." The monk continued.
"I'm sorry to disappoint you" Replied Asuir. "But that’s not in my plans". With that he pulled Trub close and raised the Scars Meadow Blade up under her chin, at which point she let out a little squeal of fear when the cold edge touched her skin.
A large warrior from the back of the party of sms members that broke down the door stepped forward. "I will handle this" he proclaimed as he took his axe in hand. "No mere Ritualist can withstand my Raging Wrath attack..". The warrior readied his axe up to head height and charged at his target letting out all manner of battle cries.
"No ! what are you doing you fool" cried Kalk, directed at the headstrong warrior. Asuir lowered his blade from the pretty face of Trub and pushed her aside, banging her head on the side of a pillar and knocking her unconscious. Then with a quick stance change, deflected the attacker with Dahnel’s Katana and drove the Scars Meadows Blade deep into his Hip.
The warrior let out a loud blood curdling cry of anguish, before being thrown off the blade and down some steps hitting each one on his decent to the ground.
"Now, I think I’ve quite outstayed my welcome.." said Asuir calmly, almost sadistically. In one swift motion he put both Blades back in their scabbards and turned for the open cliff face of the guild hall.
"He's going to escape with the blade stop him!" Cried Kalk, ordering the other members to pursue, but it was too late. In an insane attempt at escape Asuir dived head first of into the freezing oceanic waters.
“Asuirrrrrrrrrrrrrr”……….Amy looked over the cliff for some glimpse of him in the waters below.
“Amy …its no use”….said Angel …then she rushed over to Trub to check her head wound. She looked over and saw Ice standing there looking hopelessly at Amy. “Take her back to her tent, please; I must tend to Trub first.”
“But……what can I do? She looks so pale?” Ice looked at Angel in dismay.
“She’s in shock. Take her back to the tent and put her in bed. Make sure she has plenty of covers…then ask Azinna for a sleeping draught…its best she sleeps now.”
Amy drank the mug of foul tasting brew Ice handed her…and didn’t notice the taste…then as she drifted off to sleep her mind drifted back to a happier time….

“Amy…..are you sure I should go…it’s a family party….YOUR family.” Asuir looked almost panicked at the thought.
“Yes Asuir, you are practically family anyhow” Amy chuckled at Asuir’s discomfort.
The Mackenzie’s and Asuir were traveling back home to attend a big party at Caleb’s cousins estate. Matthew Mackenzie’s oldest daughter was celebrating her engagement with festivities that would last for days. All the Mackenzie’s that could attend were coming from near and far.
They reached their destination and settled in at Caleb’s country home. Asuir wasn’t quite sure about the arrangements….he wasn’t certain of Caleb’s welcome.
“Hello Mr. Mackenzie.”
“Hello Asuir.”
As the men stood there and eyed each other uncomfortably, the girls rolled their eyes and then headed for their rooms. The wanted to make sure everything was ready; the festivities would begin the next day.
The girls walked down the stairs towards the two impatient men.
“Why does it always take women so long to get ready?”
“I don’t know Asuir but it’s usually worth the wait,” Caleb smiled at Asuir
“Wow Amy, you look hot,”….
“Glad you approve of my attire, Asuir” Amy chuckled at the look Caleb gave Asuir. Caleb then looked at Amy and shrugged his shoulders and smiled. He hadn’t seen much of Amy since she had joined Scars Meadows with her cousins and Asuir, he didn’t want to spoil their time together with quarrels.
The girls laughed in delight as they entered the great room at Matthew Mackenzie’s home.
“And who is this young man?” Mary Lohansha Mackenzie smiled at Amy and Asuir. Amy made the introductions to Mary and Matthew Mackenzie and then looked over at the dance floor. “Go dance” said Mary as she saw the eager look in Amy’s eyes.
Amy laughed and grabbed Asuir’s hand and pulled him towards the dance floor.
She led him forward towards the centre of the floor between the couples dancing to the string quartet and turned to face him to find him looking at his feet. "Asuir?" Amy inquired "what’s wrong?, you don’t want to dance with me ?".
Asuir looked up at her "Its not that...its.." he sighed loudly. "Promise you wont laugh?".
Amy chuckled lightly "Ok I wont laugh. What is it?".
Asuir looked away "I...don’t know how to dance."
Amy burst out laughing, and without a single word of protest Asuir turned right around and headed back for the door. "ok ok..I'm sorry" Amy said as she took him by the hand and returned to their spot on the floor. "Its ok if you don’t know, I’ll show you" she smiled at him. "Just put one hand on my hip...and the other up here.." they joined hands in the air. "Now just follow me". They began to dance, Amy more amused from watching Asuir watch their feet and smiled to herself as he tried to avoid stepping on her.
"Still looking after my daughter I presume". Caleb's voice startled Asuir as he was too focused on the dancing. He had come dancing close by, accompanied by one of the older Mackenzie women.
"Dad!" Amy shouted and gave him a look of embarrassment. "Dad why do you always embarrass me in front of company" Amy's focus then change to the lady he was dancing with. "Hello Aunt Sara.." she said with a smile.
"Hello Amy. you’ve grown, just like your mother." Sara then looked Asuir up and down. "You're a lucky young man" she said, which made Amy start to giggle.
"Me ? but we aren’t..." Asuir tried to respond but was cut short by Sara
"Well, you don’t have to worry Amy I will keep your father company; you and your gentleman friend have a goodtime tonight...come along Caleb".
Sara led Caleb to the outer circle of the dance floor. Caleb’s attention however was still fixed on his daughter and Asuir. "Look at him, useless, you know he actually asked me once if he could marry Amy, he doesn’t even know how to dance for Dwayna’s sake."
Sara shook her head at Caleb. "Those two remind me of a couple I once knew."
Caleb looked back at Sara "oh and who might that be..? " he tried to work out who she was referring to, which made her laugh.
"ha ha ha .. Why, yourself and Beth...admit it Caleb, you where just as 'useless' as Asuir was back then."
Caleb sighed as he saw Sara’s point. "Well...there’s no denying it, he makes her happy. That’s all that matters to me."
Unaware of her aunt and father’s conversation, Amy continued to dance with Asuir. She was having the time of her life; it had been a while since she had attended such a party.
“Hi Amy”, said a handsome young gentleman.
Asuir narrowed his eyes…”Who’s that guy?”
“Oh..that’s just Dude.”
“Dude? Who’s Dude?”
“Long story,” said Amy.
“Well lets have refreshments and you can tell me”, Asuir took this opportunity to steer Amy to a table on the veranda and brought them drinks and dainty treats.
“So who’s the guy?”
“Well…Amy said, “He is the son of Mary’s brother. His father died when he was little and Mary and Matthew adopted him. His last name was Lohansha then…now that’s his middle name.”
“Soooooo….he isn’t actually related to you?” Asuir looked annoyed at that.
Amy laughed out loud at Asuir’s expression…. “You don’t have anything to worry about”
“Who said I was worried!?” Asuir looked embarrassed.
"I just see the way you look at him. I don’t like it !" Asuir was trying to hide his anger but wasn’t doing a good job of it.
"Excuse me...but why do you care how i look at guys i like" Amy said in her defence. "Its not like you are interested in me in that kind of way.." she looked sad but With her last comment Asuir's anger peaked causing him to have an unexpected outburst.
"That’s not true Amy, I'm in love with you!!...I mean ...I. I’m" Both of their hearts started to beat faster, and before he could retract what he had just let out Amy's eyes lit up with joy.
"Asuir..." she looked at him over the candle lit table with only the glow from the wick as any kind of illumination. A tear ran down her face and onto the tablecloth, and then another and another.
"Amy. Why are you crying?" he said in a concerned voice, as he jumped up to wipe her tears away. Her sobs turned to laughter. "They are tears of joy you big idiot". They both laughed, unaware Caleb had seen the whole thing from across the hall and had come marching over towards them.
"Amy, Asuir...Everybody!". He tapped a dining knife against the crystal wine glass in his hand to gain the attention of the whole party. "Recently, young master Laheri here asked for my daughters hand in marriage, and to my own selfish wishes...i refused to give my blessing." He paused for a second to return the looks of his audience. "However. Having reconsidered i'd like to take this time to do something i should have along time ago." he put down his table knife and drink and took Amy by the wrist in one hand and Asuir in the other and joined their hands together then leaned close to Asuir to mutter a few words. "Go ahead son...You may ask."
Asuir's nerves took over, he began to shake and breath deeply until he realised he was still holding Amy's hand. He looked down at their hands joined and noticed how hard she was holding onto him, which made him smile. "Amy.." he said and took her by the other hand. "I’ve known you for so long, and for so long I’ve wanted to tell you how i feel" Amy began to smile as she watched him "I would have chosen a better location for this...and probably a lot less people.." The room filled with a light laughter from the other party guests watching. "But...will you marry me?"
Amy looked around at her family and friends in delight as if trying to capture the moment in her memory. "Come on give him an answer already !" Angel shouted to everyone’s surprise, even her own, which was followed by words of encouragement from the other Mackenzie’s in the room.
"Do it Amy!" Shouted Kenzie.
"Say yes!" Joined Cat.
"We haven’t got all day!" Ice proclaimed in excitement.
Finally Amy's attention returned to Asuir, who was still awaiting an answer.
"YES!" She said almost in tears.
Asuir's face lit up like never before as he pulled her close and hugged her tightly, then kissed her, then kissed her again. The room erupted with thunderous applause and cheers, even Caleb looked pleased. Amy held Asuir close again as she whispered in his ear. "Amy Laheri....I like the sound of that."
