A blade of ligh split over the profile of the highest tower in the town centre, as the burning sun rose over the final day of the holy city of Arrah. Garrahl stood watch from the imperial palace, arms folded, waiting, hardly moving. As the sun came to fulfillment low in the sky just above the horizon, he turned and headed back inside and made his way to his room. "Its time.." he said lowly as he gently shook the figure of a young man, still asleep in the small bed in the corner of the enclosed room. "Dahnel ...its time...wake up", "Father? ..." the young man replied. "What time is it?". "Its time you where up and in full dress." he replied coldly. "Today is the day ?" Dahnel asked unsurly. "Yes, today you join the imperial guard..no longer will you be a junior guardsman Dahnel ..today you are part of the elite guard to the vizier himself...do not let me down ..." Garrahl looked away into the palace corridor, almost uninterested. Dahnel Simply noded and rose to his feet to prepare for his first day in the imperial guard to the great city of orr.
His father Garrahl Taijuir was the highest ranking officer in the service of the vizier and an undefeated champion of the orrian people, which was part of the reason he was able to get his 19 year old son into the elite guard. However there was a curtain uneasiness between them that made conversation difficult. Dahnels mother Mayla Taijuir died giving birth to him, and she was everything to Garrahl, the way he saw it..Dahnel was the reason she was dead..
"We have a shipment of supplys coming through the harbor... a very important shipment..and there has been talk of suspected bandit raids for weeks" Garrahl told his son.. "I want you to make sure nothing happens to that shipment ..". "yes father" Dahnel Replied eagerly. Garrahl headed to leave the room but stopped at the door ...as thought he had forgotten something .."What is it father?" Dahnel inquired.."Dahnel..i ...its nothing ..now get down to the docks". As his father left Dahnel collected his armor from the end of his bed and sword from the rack below the window, and headed to the palace bathing chambers.
"How is your son today Garrahl ? I understand that he is enrolled as an elite guard on this morning.." asked the vizier."He is young, Inexperienced and unprepared..now as to the usual morning business sir ?". The vizier looked at his most trusted guard for a few seconds, before continuing to reveal the orders for the day. "Ah yes , today we are to expect a visit from a great warrior of ascalon" he proclaimed. "oh ?" Garrahl was pondering the identity of this "great warrior". "yes..Racthoh Demini should be arriving any minute as a guest of the king himsel..." just before the vizier could finish his sentence the doors to the Palace burst wide open with a mighty crash and in walked a talk dark figure dressed in heavy dark combat armor drenched in an oil black blood..a blood common of the charr. "Master Demini..we where not expe...", "You must listen !" Racthoh interupted ... "There are several hundred charr headed south bearing powerful magics". "The char? ..aha..we have nothing to fear from them master Demini ..we are quite saf.." The Vizier was interupted once again, by a guard whispering something in his ear. "WHAT!!...i see " exclaimed the Vizier. "If you dont let me see your king at once i will.." Rac started as he grabbed the Vizier by the collar of his silk Robes.. "Release him at once .." said Garrahl calmly, as he walk slowly towards the warrior, hand on blade.. "I wish not to see bloodshed in the palace, especially not the blood of a guest"..Garrahl seemed confident in light of who he was facing, even after the stories he had heard about Racthoh. Demini droped the vizier, turned and began to walk out of the palace at his own pace, knowing he had wasted his time to try and convince the orrians otherwise of there impending doom.
"STOP THAT MAN!" cried the vizier .."But sir ..the char..they are here ..we dont have time to arrest ambassadors we need the guards to fight of the invaders!" explained one of his personal guard. As Racthoh was approaching the exit to the Palace , Garrahl walked slowly to a stop in the centre of the doorway, hand on hilt , ready to draw. "I cannot allow you to leave master Demini" he said knowing violence was soon to follow. Racthoh stoped and mirrored Garrahls stance, Both men stood their not moving , waiting for the other to make the first move. One clad in harsh black obsidian armor, the other in light silvermail covered by ceramonial white robes, like two ends of the spectrum about to clash. Within seconds both swords where drawn and the combat was over. Racthoh was now standing infront of Garrahl facing in the same direction as him , sword turned back hand and force up into Garrahls chest, while the orrians sword only lightly caught Racthohs face. Now so close together , Garrahl Whispered in Racthohs ear.. "Tell my son ...tell him ..he never failed me"..Racthoh nodded and releaded the blade from his chest and spun it back into forarm position which painted a perfect line of blood along the palace floor.
